Introducing
the groomsmen
We are overjoyed to have them celebrate our marriage along side us!
These guys have played a significant role in Vu and I's life.
We are beyond proud of the relationships we've built with and are proud to say they are more than just friends. They are family.
Aelx Phasy
I met Alex in middle school. I was the new kid in class, and Alex sat behind me. I remember I wasn't able to focus in class that day because there was a spider crawling on the wall next to me. Alex was nice enough to offer to switch seats because he saw how scared I was! Ever since then, we've shared many, many, many, great moments together.
Alex was my roommate in college. We would play Street Fighter til 4am! He was also president of LSA (Lao Student Association), so he forced me to socialize because I would go to these events to support him. He is an incredible friend, and I'm so happy to have someone I can be myself around.
Dang Nguyen
Dang is my sister's husband. I met him back in college when he and my sister were first dating. He came to visit from Austin, but my sister didn't want him to stay with her so she asked if he can stay with me and my roommates for the weekend. We ended up playing 2k all night. Til this day, we still play 2k together.
Dang is technically my brother-in-law, but you can take the "in-law" out because of how he has treated me. He let me stay with him after college and allowed me to flourish. We share amazing memories together and I'm glad to have Dang as my brother.
Paddy Davannavong
I met Paddy in middle school when he first moved to Shakopee. Although he was the newest member of the Shakopee crew, he instantly made a positive impact on the group. Paddy was the shot caller of the group and because of him, we all got to do a lot of things together.
Paddy and I were roommates in college, where we have some of the best memories together. My personal favorite is when we both had a huge exam the next day and had intentions of pulling an all nighter to study for it. However, mid-way through studying, we were offered box suite tickets to the wolves game. Needless to say, we both failed our exams. I cannot ask for a better friend than Paddy.
Jackson Mai
Jackson and I met the summer I moved to Shakopee. He lived 3 houses down, so we were practically neighbors. We first met when my cousins and I saw Jackson and his cousins playing basketball on his driveway. We walked over and played a friendly 3v3. We've been great friends ever since.
One time in high school, Paddy and I were at the movie theater late. It was 2am when we got done and found out Paddy's car wouldn't start. We called Jackson, who lived 30 minutes away from the theater, and he drove out to jump-start Paddy's car! This is one of the many examples of Jackson being there for me. I am lucky to have Jackson as a friend!
Jeff Olupo
I met Jeff on my very first day of middle school. I had just moved to Shakopee and was walking home from school by myself when I was approached by Jeff. He was also walking home, but he had a group of friends with him. He introduced me to his group and kindly asked if I wanted to walk home with all of them. That is the type of person Jeff is.
Ever since then, we've become great friends. We'll hang out, play some smash, and enjoy watching some hoops together.
What I admire about Jeff is his cool, calm, and chill demeanor. He is able to fit into all types of settings, which makes me so excited to have him by my side at the wedding.
Nick Nhep
Nick is Christina's oldest brother. I first met him in high school. Nick used to host poker nights in high school and would throw crazy college parties. In fact, Christina and I first started talking at one of these parties. I am so thankful that Nick hyped me up to Christina.
Nick is the commissioner of our fantasy football league that we started in college. We are currently going on year 14 in that league and friendly trash talk has yet to become boring yet.
Nick is one of the most career-driven people I know and I'm glad to see him succeed because I know how much work he puts in.
Dara Nhep
Dara is Christina's older brother. I met Dara in middle school when Jackson would drive both of us home from school. Dara and I bonded over our passion for video games. If professional video games player were a career choice back when we were in middle school, then Dara would be a pro by now.
I admire Dara for his ability to not cave into peer pressure. He's the type of guy that does what he wants when he wants, and how he wants. Nobody can tell him what to do. It also says a lot about our friendship, because whenever I ask Dara for help with anything, he will drop everything in order to lend a helping hand.
Rodney Lim
I met Rodney back in middle school when we had a Web Publishing class together. Back then, we would hang out at the arcade where Rodney would be clearing DDR (dance dance revolution) levels on hard difficulty. In college, Rodney learned the guitar, so naturally, we became a band. Jackson was on the drums and I was the lead singer. Rodney's basement was where we practiced, and that place is filled with amazing memories.
Rodney is the definition of a jack of all trades as he has the most unique set of hobbies. He hikes mountains, snowboards, plays DDR, plays guitar, and competes in gun competitions. He is so reliable because there is not something he can't do!
Our officiant
Trac Dang
Trac is Vu's cousin. He played a pivotal role in Vu's childhood. They would alternate whose house they would hang out at, and where they would play video games together. When Vu and Christina first started dating, Trac, was weary of Christina at first because he was watching over Vu. But now, Trac and Christina are bestest of friends.
Trac is the scholar of the family, he has an undergrad and master's degree from Stanford. I can't count how many times the family has asked Trac to read over their essay. Trac is also a very spiritual person, and very connected with the Earth. This leads to him also being the designated advice giver.
Vu and Christina love Trac so much, and can't think of a better person to be an officiant at their wedding.
